Indicator Transit is a small, invitation-only preview of a subway status device — a website and an iOS app that show, at a glance, whether it’s worth leaving now to catch your train. This page says what we collect, which is deliberately little, and what we do with it.

No accounts

There is nothing to sign up for and no password. Your device is identified by an unguessable link; whoever has the link is its user. A single cookie remembers which invitation your browser used, so the front page can take you back to your own device. There are no analytics services, no advertising, no trackers, and nothing about you is ever sold or shared with anyone.

What we keep

• Your device’s settings — the station you chose and your walk time. These describe a station, not a person.
• An email address, only if you give one — on the waitlist, during setup, or with feedback. We use it to contact you about the preview and for nothing else.
• Feedback you send — your message, along with what the display was showing when you sent it, so we can reproduce what you saw.
• Push tokens, if you use the iOS app — the anonymous identifiers Apple issues so our server can send your phone notifications and Live Activity updates. They carry no personal information, and we discard them the moment Apple reports them expired. The app also reports its version and your phone’s hardware model (for example “iPhone18,2”) to help us debug — never your phone’s name.

Location

If you allow it, the website uses your location to show nearby stations and realistic walk times. Your coordinates are used to answer that request and are not stored, logged, or shared. Declining just means distances are measured from your home station instead.

Where data lives

On servers in the United States. Train information comes from the MTA’s public data feeds; nothing about you is sent to the MTA or anyone else.

Removing your data

Write to the address your invitation came from — or use the feedback form — and ask. We’ll delete your device, its history, and any address you gave us.

Changes

If this policy changes while the preview runs, this page changes, and the date above moves.
